Re: Willowbrook School 1972
That is horrific. Yes, places like existed long before 1972. A lot of states and cities were ignorant as to what to do with children or adults with mental health issues. Whether it be psychological or mentally challenged. I have a mentally challenged brother who was born in 1972 and I watched the struggles my parents had. Not so much from his disability but from dumb ass beurocrats who just didn't want to deal with the problem.

Re: Willowbrook School 1972
I worked at a school/home for multiply handicapped children in the 90's and they showed all of us a film about willowbrook, telling us that our charges were people too and that could never happen again. It was terrifying.

Re: Willowbrook School 1972
There was a time when Geraldo seemed to want to be a real journalist. I'm not sure if that Before version of him was a front, but the After is a major asshole. But the documentary was extremely powerful and resulted in changes across the country.
