I can sympathize with that, I worked foodservice in the past for 11+ years. (cook/chef)
Seen a lot of bad shit go down. People shit on servers etc.
Had to talk a lot of servers down from losing their shit in the past.

(People are cruel to wait staff... Really cruel.. but I doubt the girl deserved that. was probably fresh out of the hot water dispenser/machine/hot urn water. Or? maybe a steam table..yuck.)

Yeah. It`s been said that you can tell what people are really like by the way they treat wait staff. I recall reading about some woman being interviewed for a job over lunch. the boss said he would have hired her, but didn`t because she treated the waitress very rude.
