That's a harlequin baby, and the poor little bastard won't live long without a heap of help. Probably best off dead.

Re: Video Shows A Small Harlequin Baby
"Harlequin Baby" or Ichthyosis is a congenital defect of the skin caused by a malfunction of skin renewal. In these cases dead skin will not fall off in flakes as it would normally do, but build up rather solid shells which tend to break open leaving ouds that reacht to the deep and sensitive layers of the skin when not treated properly. Similiar to a growing toanail. Removed with creames with high percentage of urea in their ingrediences the defects of the skin can be avoided, but the patient will still suffer from a very sensitive and thin skin, as the top-layer of the skin will not form. Moreover the skin is incapable of regulating the body temperature in a normal way. The symptoms may look drastical, but do not indicate the child is incapable of survival. Nevertheless very many children die in the first weeks of life due to respiratory problems, infections, or temperature disregulation. If they survive the large white areas of skin will be repelled after several weeks. Ichthyosis may, but does not have to affect the conjunctiva and mucosa. Eyes and lips are not missing as one might think, but the eyelids an lips are pulled outwards, caused by the inelasticity of the affected skin. |
