A baby’s smile always seems to brighten the room. It certainly did last week at a Missouri hospital!

Alyssa Bella Baily had everyone’s attention — because she was born with two front teeth!

Doctors and nurses were all smiles when Alyssa Bella Bailey came into the world.

“Right when she first arrived, everyone was shocked. She has two front teeth? No kidding. Really? It was just the big talk in the delivery room,” Alyssa’s mother, Jaklina Bailey said.

Born last Sunday, December 28th, it seems all Baby Alyssa wanted for Christmas was…her two front teeth!

“It’s her bottom two teeth. We had two other doctors that came in just to look, and nurses. They were kind of like ‘what’s going on? Can I just see? Let me see,'” Jaklina Bailey said.

Jaklina Bailey says her doctor was just as surprised as everyone else.

“She said in her 25 year career this is the second time she’s ever seen it,” Jaklina Bailey said.

According to MedlinePlus, part of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, “natal teeth,” occur once in every 2,000 or 3,000 newborns. While they can be associated with medical conditions like growth hormone deficiencies or cleft palates, most — like in Alyssa Bella Bailey’s case are perfectly healthy.

“They said it’s just going to grow with the rest of her teeth. It’s going to be fine. We did look online, and the doctor did warn us. We’re going to keep an eye on it — that if they do get loose, we have to keep an eye on it because it’s something she could choke on,” Jaklina Bailey said.

MedlinePlus says other potential problems include sores under a child’s tongue, or pain during breastfeeding.

“I know a lot of people have ask me, ‘does it hurt?’ Well, I’m bottle feeding. Breastfeeding — but, bottle feeding,” Jaklina Bailey said.

While many, “natal teeth,” are taken out because of their loose root structure, Jaklina Bailey says Alyssa’s amazing smile is here to stay — at least until it’s time for those to fall out!

“Everything about her is healthy. She’s a healthy, beautiful little girl. She just has two front teeth,” Jaklina Bailey said.

Jaklina Bailey says it was Dad who first discovered Baby Alyssa’s teeth.

Awe, haha! This is adorable.
My youngest turns two here soon and I finally just stopped nursing. When she was a newborn she would clamp down with her gums and that hurt, I can't imagine this!
