I thought all newborns in the US had to be given some...silver nitrate (I could have that wrong) drops in their eyes, or something like that, for disease prevention....

They did, the last I knew, but, I am child free. The video shows the mother, and they did notice immediately. The hospital may have decided to wait a couple of weeks to do the MRI. |

The child will never see. Even if they were able to grow or create a functional eye and "wired" it up properly, the brain will have used the neurons for another purpose. if a human loses sight after having had it can have it restored. those born without sight never gain it regardless of technology. the brain will adapt quite amazingly and utilize the neurons for another purpose, often enhancing remaining senses.

You never know. If I were the parent, I'd try to have some hope. He seems happy, and you cannot really miss what you never had. There are all kinds of new technology. Hopefully, one day... |
