My Youngest Daughter pooped meconium before she was delivered...  More harmful to Baby than Mother.. they ingest/breathe it into their lungs.. Meconium's consistency is that of tar.. thick, sticks to everything, difficult to clean off of stuff...etc. So it obviously poses a risk for suffocation, and then there is risk of infection as well.. My lil' girl didn't get any in her mouth/air passage. Still had to give her the antibiotics for it though..  One thing I will note about the story/pic at hand... the foot going through the vaginal wall and exiting the anus.. I've read of a few women that have a condition where they were born with an opening/fistula between the vagina/anus just like this (Inside , out of view).. which of course required surgery to repair..  (The puke button would be great right about now. )

A mec aspiration is never a good thing, pneumonia is one of the main complications if a baby decides it wants to poop into its own private "toilet" before it comes out! Good to know everything worked out for your little one |

The difficult births that young girls are forced to bear, if they survive, often results in a fistula to the urethra or bladder so that they permanently leak urine. Often their babies do not survive. There is no way to fix this kind of fistula w.o surgery which is v hard to obtain. Some girls walk days or a week to be repaired surgically. Girls that leak urine are rejected by their spouse & family & society. They smell constantly; can't stay dry and get all manner of irritating skin disorders. How about that sort of life at the age of 13 or so?

Sorry ... my comment above regarding young girls trying to give birth relateed to girls in third-world countries, Africa, as I recall. Their unsuccessful hard labor wears on for days until either they die or be baby dies or both. |
