urine is only sterile if the person pissing it is absolutely free of kidney or bladder infection or virus. it has ammonia in it, which is what takes away the sting of jellyfish. stale urine, (urine that has sat out to concentrate for a few days), will have a higher content of ammonia. aboriginal peoples often used stale urine to bleach animal hides and furs to a brighter white.

Urine generally sterilizes, and can be used to treat a few flesh wounds. That is pretty cool that they thought of it and it worked. That's either one really smart doctor, or one really lucky doctor.
