Re: Updated Faces of Meth Slideshow
It is the shit they use to cook it with that is toxic to your kidneys. Prolonged use can cause kidney failure among other things and you are spot on about the brain. I believe I learned this in a book I read for a sociology course I teach. The text we use discusses this. I was just answering the question based on what I have read. However ingesting anything that has been cooked in coleman fuel, battery acid, drain cleaner, freon, etc does not bode well for any organ. Now if it were Heisenberg's blue shit you might be okay kidney-wise |

Oh right. Yeah I miss Breaking Bad - wish it would have ran another couple of seasons. Gustavo Fring was probably the best villain I've ever seen on television (I really don't watch much TV). What a badass |

Re: Updated Faces of Meth Slideshow
You have (had?) a loved one addicted to meth? I'm sincerely sorry to hear that. And I hope that he's doing better. You probably don't have to hear it from me, but meth is a drug that I would never touch again (and I regret ever using). Besides the fact that it's cooked in clandestine labs (very contaminated, unclean workspaces) with a cocktail of toxic household items, the stimulant itself is directly toxic to a user's brain. You will find that many long term users of the drug tend to look older than they really are, and because so much damage has been done to their Dopamine neurons, they may show signs of Parkinson's Disease. As a former user, I spend my time trying to counsel others about it, but it's a very difficult habit to quit without falling into a very deep depression. If there is a scourge of a drug in America, I would definitely say it's methamphetamine. And if there is one drug I'd like to see "go extinct" it would be methamphetamine. |

Re: Updated Faces of Meth Slideshow
Meth doesn't cause acne but it does make your skin itch really bad. Add to that folks who do meth are always tweaking (busy busy talking fast, hands and arms and legs constantly moving). They say itchiness is from impurities in the meth, but seems like just makes them pick around on their dang faces. Also melts their teeth like acid, very attractive! |

Re: Updated Faces of Meth Slideshow
I've read that the reason heroin is making a comeback is because the Mexican cartels recognized the surging number of pain pill addicts (oxy and such) and flooded the market w/ the OG of opiates, which they had at there disposal. Econ 101, those damn junkies. |
