Re: Unwell Hamsters

They do seem rather unwell. It seems they were used for experiments though. While it is true that most people are ignorant in the rodent care department, these types of injuries usually aren't caused by neglect or improper care.

I'm sure an injection of thalidomide could do that though.

Re: Unwell Hamsters

people need to care for them better. they dont clean their cages enough, give them bullshit food, dont provide a chew/scratch toy, no means of exercise or fresh water. my dwarf hammie has been alive for 4 yrs now and goin strong. once a week, total cage take apart and cleaning with fresh bedding...not wood either, but fluff. every other day fresh water and every 3 days fresh food...the best hammie kibble out there. she has a wheel and lots of tubes to run thru and a few times a week she runs in her ball. very happy hammie.

Re: Unwell Hamsters

Heartbreaking pics Yes, I guess some of them may have been used for experiments, however I wouldn't be surpised if some of them got that bad just because of pure negligence of their owners. I could never work as a vet: those photos already bring tears to my eyes so I'd become totally over-emotional if having to deal with them in professional context.
