What the hell else do you think the other end of the umbilical cord is attached to? It's attached to the placenta which is still in the uterus.

Actually, most of the "medical interventions" in the US during labour and birth are harmful. Making women give birth lying on their back? Harmful. Giving Pitocin routinely? Harmful. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

Youll see that a lot at home, even with a midwife (umbilical still coming out prior to be cut, especially if the child is still a little blue). As for the woman, she does look like she'd kick your ass in a back ally while giving birth lol. Edit: After watching a few of those Homebirth Videos linked ont he first page, I have to bow down to all you mothers out there, my wife included. You grab that little thing, all bloody and slimy as people try to wipe them down, while the fathers just sit there and go, oh hell no, bath it first look on their faces lol. |
