Ukrainian Solder Sets Fire To Himself
A Ukrainian soldier set himself on fire after being fired from the army. Serhii Ulianov poured a flammable liquid over himself before ignition. His hot protest took place outside the headquarters of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in Kiev. Another member of the Ukrainian army manages to pull Ulianov to the ground to put out the fire. Firefighters and other officers jumped to cover the ex-soldier, then used a fire extinguisher to douse out the flames. Fortunately he did not suffer severe burns. Local media reported that Ulianov was protesting on behalf of a group of soldiers who were allegedly unfairly waived in 2016. Ulianov said in a Facebook post on Monday 30th July that police rights were violated because they could not legally retire because they had not received proper authorization. The group had enrolled in a voluntary battalion that fought with pro-Russian terrorists in eastern Ukraine. |
