I wonder what it was. Reminds me of an episode of, "House" where a guy's tonque swelled up and his eye popped out and I forget what else. House was asking him questions just to hear him mumble.

You know what I think it looks like? A lipoma. I had one removed from my back a few years ago. It's just a build up of fatty cells, usually caused by a trauma of some kind and usually benign. In my case it was a bad fall and blow to the back when I was little. It took years before it was discovered though. I think the image of what was removed from this person looks kind of like this;

And a tongue lipoma in general looks like this;
