Looked like he had pus under his toe nail as well... If so? that probably hurt from the pressure.  I'd be going with the red hot paper clip method and putting a hole in the nail where the pus was located at. get that funk out of there.  Also, that little bit of flimsy flesh from the blister? rip that stuff off..damn sissy.  |

Recently, under the nail of my left-hand "social finger", I got a nasty infection. To relieve the pressure (and get a sample of the sea-foam green of the goo underneath), my doctor used a largish syringe needle like a drill to let it out. (Sorry, To2, I didn't think to film it for you.) That method worked really well and didn't hurt very much at all. If you have access to needles like that, I'd highly recommend drilling through the nail that way rather than using the old hot-needle/paperclip method. But don't skimp on the hygiene. We sanitized the nail with betadine and they squeezed out about a pea-sized glob of pus to send to the lab. Turns out it was a yeast-type parasite and they put me on oral meds for about 2 weeks. I ended up losing that nail, but it's almost completely grown back now. |
