Tim Hudson will be out for four months following surgery to fix a fractured fibula and the deltoid ligament in his right ankle. Given that the season will be over before then, the Braves pitcher won’t play until 2014.
Hudson’s broken ankle happened on Wednesday night against the Mets. In the eighth inning, Eric Young Jr. grounded out, forcing Hudson to cover first base. While the Braves got the out, Young accidentally landed on his rival’s ankle, rather than first base.

Young immediately showed remorse and kneeled next to Hudson while medics tended him. The Mets player also apologized multiple times, reports CBS Sports.

But despite the season-ending injury, Tim Hudson doesn’t blame Young for what happened, and neither does his wife. Kim Hudson took to Twitter on Thursday, and wrote to Young, “@EYJr Thank you for playing the game the right way. You’re obviously one of the good guys. We appreciate you.”

The tweet was a response to a message from the Mets player, which read, “Thankyou all for the kind words. I sincerely appreciate it. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery for Tim. Thankyou again. #praying4Tim.”

Kim also sent a similar tweet to the Mets organization, writing, “Can’t say enough great things about the @Mets organization and the way they handled Tim’s injury: players, medical team, security #grateful.”

According to the Braves, Tim Hudson underwent surgery on his ankle on Friday night in Atlanta. The team tweeted, “The procedure was performed by Dr. Marvin Royster in Atlanta, Ga. Hudson is expected to begin baseball activities in approximately 4 months.”

The news is certainly disappointing for Hudson and for the Braves. His season will end after 21 starts and 131.1 innings. His ERA for the season was 3.97 — below 4.00 for the seventh consecutive season.

Tim Hudson will also be eligible for free agency after the season, a fact that is certain to make him somewhat nervous about what’s to come. However, the Braves have shown no indication that they intend on letting him go.

I'm not a fan of baseball, but I thought it was a good show of sportsmanship/care that he went back to check on him. then not only is the inside of his leg screwed up.. but the cleats as well...ouchie..
