Tetanus [kid Warning]
Tetanus is infection of the nervous system with the potentially deadly bacteria Clostridium tetani (C. tetani) Tetanus often begins with mild spasms in the jaw muscles (lockjaw). The spasms can also affect the chest, neck, back, and abdominal muscles. Back muscle spasms often cause arching, called opisthotonos.    · |

Tetanus is really a horrible thing.. I had a great-something-or-other who had it and they had him eat through a straw because his jaw was locked and couldn't open. I don't think he lived that long.. It'd be interesting to see other pictures of this and learn more about it. Nice post!

I agree...I had a puppy that got it from an infected tooth. It was so horrible watching him go though the spasms, etc. The vet even gave him Tetanus anti-toxin to no avail. Thank God we put him to sleep before it got too far along. I can't even begin to imagine having to watch a human being go through that. This is an old painting of a guy who contracted Tetanus.  · |
