A teenager with a rare condition gorges on sweets and sings songs without knowing it while sleeping nearly 12 days at a time.

Shannon Magee has slept through *birthdays, Christmases, a family skiing trip to the Alps and even her GCSEs because of Kleine-Levin Syndrome.

The student, 17, has episodes once a month when she will *sleepwalk naked, hallucinate, nod off for 22 hours a day and become grumpy while awake.

She said: “The year Alexandra Burke went on X Factor was particularly bad – I sang Hallelujah for four days and I only knew the chorus.”

Doctors only diagnosed her and put her on drugs used for epilepsy after dad Christopher looked up her symptoms online.

Shannon, of Bolton, Greater Manchester, is glad she is being treated but fears the disorder will destroy her dream of becoming a nurse.

She said: “It’s like being awake in a coma. My memory goes blank and I don’t know what I’m doing.”

KLS is a neurological disease that can start after sickness. It affects just 45 people in the UK and can vanish suddenly.
