Just weighing in here, but this also could be the advanced stages of Diabetic foot ulcers/ wounds from Diabetes either I or II. If the Diabetic's blood sugar isn't in check, they can develop this....or worse yet, they get can develop numbness from Diabetic Neuropathy (feels like the foot is constantly tingling or asleep). With this, they don't realize they've either injured their foot (stubbing toes, etc......till they have an open wound), or developed foot or lower extremity ulcers from blisters, etc. Finally unmanaged, high blood sugar results in slow to non healing wounds, which can develop into this mess depicted in the photo.....till they lose their toes, or foot/ feet, or even their lower leg(s), etc. Not a pretty sight.  |

yes, happened to my dad. first his big toe, then all the toes. Then half his foot to full foot to whole lower leg to the knee. When it started on the other foot he just gave up entirely and died shortly after. I miss him terribly but I understand why he lost his will to live.
