A spermatocele is an abnormal sac that develops in the epididymis — the small, coiled tube located in the upper testicle that collects and transports sperm. Spermatoceles, is also known as epididymal or spermatic cysts. A spermatocele usually is filled with milky or clear fluid that may contain sperm. The common cysts present to our clinic vary from 1 cm to 5 centimeter in diameter. Patients with spermatocele usually presents with discomfort, infertility or as an accidental finding during routine examinations.



This condition is usually diagnosed by physical examination and a transillumination test. The transillumination test is done flashing a torch light through your scrotum and the light will transilluminate any fluid filled mass.

I had one when I came back from Vietnam. My scrotum swelled to almost three times it's normal size. I thought it happend when I walked into a pool table, and the next morning my stuff looked like it was packing to go elswhere. My doc put me on ampicillin and something else and it went away. I never could have kids though. Ha s the statute of limitations run out on that
