Before you all get up in arms about how menacing and disgusting pitbulls as a whole are, I'd like to point out to you that the dog I grew up with was a pitbull.
From when I was a toddler I use to play with her and would ride around on her back and such.
Never. Not even once, did she even growl at me.
Before one of you comes in and starts all that "Ooh, bad parenting" crap, it's also apt that you take into account that all this crap about dangerous breeds was not as common back then.

Take into consideration that any breed of dog has the potential to be harmful. At the same time as I was a child, growing up with a pitbull, my neighbour owned a variety of small dogs. One of which, a maltese, bit my grandmother, completely unprovoked. The wound needed stitches.

A few years later I was attacked by a small mixed breed terrier that lived in my street. Again, unprovoked. Fortunately it wasn't serious enough to serious medical attention.

In multiple cases, where a child is attacked by a dog, of whatever breed the parents of the child are at fault. If you own a dog you need to be aware of it's behaviour, taking into account both the general breed temperament as well as that of the individual dog.
Not all pitbulls are manic killing machines.
I have read articles of children being mauled and carried away by dogs, because the parents are too fucking dense to understand the potential harm a dog can cause.

Pitbulls were bred by humans to fight. The stereotypical nature of the breed is our own fault.

The absolute ignorance of some people regarding this frustrates me to no end.

Yes, it's sad that children get injured from dogs in general, I'm not saying that all dogs are blame free in regards to this. But people need to take into consideration the other elements of the situation and stop being complete cunts when they go off stereotyping.
