Self harm is a complex issue that can not be 'cured' by locking people up. I agree that someone that cuts themselves to 'externalize' their 'internal' pain does not make themselves EMO. I agree it is between them and the blade.

That said, as a pre-med student, I have to say some of these cuts are so severe they aren't even remotely benign. You can see muscles, nerves, and bones. This poor lady is doing more than just the 'typical' cutting. She is destroying her body and I PROMISE you she goes to the ER. There's one set of photos that shows a previous gash (seen in photos above) clinically sewn.

Either way, this poor woman is in severe pain, internally and externally. She needs help. This isn't just saying it in an "she crazy, lock her up" way. It's in the "I'm very concerned about her, her body, and her mind". Eventually she'll run out of places to cut. And run out of blood to lose.

Honestly, for me, the most 'telling' photo is the one holding the giant clot in her hand under water. It honestly looks like a bloody silicone implant, but it is not.

I can only wish this person the best and some day to find some sort of happiness. All I see in these pictures is sadness and severe pain.

I know what you mean. It must be frustrating to continuously patch her up after she deliberately injures herself, when in the meantime there are people who could use the doctors' help more.

She really needs professional help though, if this isn't a "cry for help" nothing is. Since these pictures were posted in 2008 and probably taken even earlier I'd really love to know how she's doing today if she's alive.
