The guy surely kept his thigh, but not most of his leg for sure.
I too am no doctor, buuuut:
In case you didn't know the Tibia(bone he broke) is one of the worst bones to break because of it's horrible blood supply. It's nutrient foramen is so small that about 14 years ago, if you broke your tibia 2/3 of the way up... & the bone broke skin: "very common," to cut the leg off. This was because if any infection broke out, you were fucked & sometimes when it didn't break skin, it just wouldn't heal... due to the poor blood supply... leading to necrotic tissue, etc. So basically what I'm saying is: His ass has 2 thighs and 1.3 legs.
In the anatomical world, the leg is the portion from your knee to your ankle.
