In the ER a 27yo female presented with a lacerated thumb. This was a double bump off of the blade of a high powered industrial table saw. She failed to use a push stick on the wood she was cutting and came in contact with the blade as the wood kicked back. The saw is reported to be moving at 7000 RPM had it been a smaller " household " saw the damage would have been much greater as lower RPMs would have had a better chance of not kicking the thumb away but sucking it in.
