I am an expert on this photo and its story. Let me enlighten you chumps. The man's name was Michael. He lived in an apartment complex somewhere in the Bronx, probably in the 80's. While on PCP he broke a mirror and used the glass to amputate his face (as you can see) and feed it to a German shepherd and her two pups. When he arrived at the hospital he was saying some insane shit about Big Bird before going braindead. In Vernon Geberth's book Practical Homicide Investigation he has this photo followed by a photo of Michael's face being reconstructed via pectoral flap procedure, as the tissue recovered from the dogs' stomachs wasn't suitable for grafting. In the latest edition of the book Geberth calls out snopes.com for doubting his legitimacy  |
