Self Inflicted Massive Abscess
I CAN NOT TELL YOU WERE THESE PHOTOS COME FROM. But a woman of 38 years old, decided to see what would happen if she injected saliva under her skin. She had wanted to hurt herself because of depression and she certainly did that.  She was admitted to hospital with her cubital fossa so swollen with puss that it was cutting off her circulation in her fingers. This caused emense pain. They wrote her up for nothing more for pain control than Panadol! Rushed to Theatre to have the abcess drained. They found TWO seperate holes with a 'bridge' across the holes. Each hole contained 50ml's of puss. Yuck! In hospital for a week on heavy IV antibiotics. Holes were packed 3 times a day. The holes were down to the bone and you could clearly see muscle as well. Everytime she had them repacked, she needed a big dose of Morphine to cope with the packing. Which hurts like Hell at the best of times. Still she would scream the ward down when the dressings were changed. She would be in tears, and shaking with shock. She has stated that she NEVER attends to do this to herself, ever again. In the photos. I hope they are not out of order. You can see the massive swelling of the abcess. There is a photo too of the packing in place. She had the back slab of plaster off and EACH hole contained 1 meter of packing. You can also see the healing, 3 weeks after the injection she gave herself. They look 1,000% better than they did. This woman is NOT an IV drug user but is a Nurse. She deserved everthing she got for being a dumbass. You should know, if you're a nurse, that saliva has bacteria in it that can eat through muscle tissue, and with her having this knowledge, deserves no sympathy.   |
