Re: Samoan Deformed Baby

I think the child has no comprehension of anything.

Well, we wouldnt really know since we arent neurosurgeons, nor are we the parents, so we can only guess but if Im going to err I choose not to err on the side that discounts anyones humanity or ability to absorb tenderness.

Re: Samoan Deformed Baby

Tina Julie Nanai had her 6th birthday last year.

http://www.samoaobserver.ws/local-ne...cle-tina-nanai

Happy 6th birthday, Miracle-Tina Nanai!

In January 2008, we took you to America when you were only four months old, because you were a fighter and had proved to the world that you wanted to “live”!

You underwent seven major operations at Miami Children’s Hospital, Florida, and after 5 ½ months of extensive treatments, the specialists told us “take her home, we have done all we can for her, her life is in God’s hands now, and the key to her survival is the aftercare that she will receive from here on
in”!

So, at nine months, we brought you back home to Samoa, and you have continued to “fight” for the life that God breathed into you, when you were born on the 1st September 2007.

You amaze us as you continue to flourish and grow, strong and tall, like the wild grass of Afiamalu, under our Father in Heaven’s watchful eye and protection.

It matters not that you cannot see, that you cannot walk, that you cannot talk, that you are paralyzed from the chest down, that you survive on a pure liquid diet and fed through a G-tube.

Why?

Because God has gifted you with the ability to exude His love to those whom you come into contact with. That is your mission and “purpose” in life.

You love little cuddles and butterfly kisses, you love to listen to soothing spiritual music, you love to hear familiar voices and the sound of giggles and laughter in our home, you love your long warm baths and exercise routine, you love to pose for a photo shoot, and most of all you love our prayer times!

Re: Samoan Deformed Baby

Such loving parents to keep their child alive in a state of permanent half-death, perhaps even being conscious enough to know that she'll never be able to have a normal life. A loving God would be so proud of them for exercising their selfishness in such a way.

Re: Samoan Deformed Baby

I wouldn't like to think of it starving to death as the doctors wanted it to when it was born but there is no way I would have tried to prolong the life of it. If it was born that way, God didn't mean for it to live very long.

Re: Samoan Deformed Baby

Maybe I'm missing something. If part of her brain is missing, what kind of quality of life can this child expect? Is she even self-aware? And if not, what does providing surgery accomplish? How does it make her life better? Idk, maybe I'm cruel, but I just don't get it. I've been called worse before.

Who says we're not neurologists? (neurosurgeons have little expertise in the function of neural structures in the absence of surgery, anyway)
