Re: RPG Wound

It is going to take ages to pick all of those out, not to mention the healing process.

Re: RPG Wound

That's not a wound I would expect to see from an RPG.

I think most RPG's are shaped charge weapons, not fragmentation weapons.

The pieces in the man's face appear to be very uniform and very evenly distributed.

My guess is that the injuries were not caused by an RPG.
Thought the same myself, just write what info comes with the pics

Re: RPG Wound

And for clarity. An RPG is not a Weapon as such. Its an Explosive.

Re: RPG Wound

RPG launcher can fire a variety of rockets and warheads.
The OG-7V fragmentation is a big grenade smaller than the AT warhead but larger than a grenade and is used with the RPG-7 launcher. Or he could of been hit by the molten metal that sprayed into his vehicle. YOu could get similar injuries from the stones that are blasted into your face when an RPG hits the ground near you. Most likley a victim of the OG-7V.

Yes! I have heard of this! Currently the Bomb Disposal Squadron are using these. Was watching how they work the other day and it is actually really good. Very few parts to assemble and its all made out of Plastic so its lighter for the boys to carry around.
Let me see if I can find a video....
After 50 mins of looking, I cannot find it. However the device did appear on Future Weapons one time and it's designed and built in the UK. It's a Directional Explosive (Much like the "Boot Banger") Basically it uses magnesium jet technology which fires a 'blade' of 1000oC Copper at the explosive, piercing up to 3" steel to render the IED or other unexploded bomb useless.
Fascinating to watch, If I manage to find the video I shall post it.

!!EDIT!! I found it! I believe its produced by Alford Technologies. http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/futu...-krakatoa.html

Re: RPG Wound

The pellets are too small for Claymore and also not deep enough for any explosive whether RPG or Claymore.

If the pellets came from a Claymore or RPG from far away, there wouldn't be that high of a density of pellets and they wouldn't be that uniformly distributed.

If the pellets came from a Claymore or RPG up close, the entire head would be gone.

The pellets are very small and appear to have barely penetrated beneath the skin. You can actually see many of the exposed pellets in the photo.

I'm thinkin' a round of 12 gauge birdshot.

Re: RPG Wound

I'm not sure how lucky he is. I'm not so sure I'd want to survive that. Imagine what his face will look like after it has healed! OOHHH poor man.
