Yeah, I was wondering about the same thing. Usually, they're pretty strict in navy/military when it comes to the state of mind of the people serving there.

I don't think he did this solely for seeking attention. Those injuries look extremely painful and there's also a high risk of them becoming infected involved. Often, wounding yourself and posting pics about it is the very last call for help. All in all, I hope he gets as effective help as possible.

It’s definitely attention seeking. His self harm only happens after he has had a woman seemingly reject him or something has gone wrong in his life that most of us would deal with by swearing or maybe for some having a beer.

Which is also his problem...he drinks a LOT.

These wounds (and pics) came after I didn’t answer his texts. We were really good friends, until I went to visit Scotland and him (I’m in Canada) and he broke him arm....cut his cast off the night he got it, and proceeded to tell me it “fell off” why? Because I didn’t want to be more than friends.

I knew he had mental health issues, but this was over the top for me...yet I thought he was harmless. He only hurt himself. Till he got super drunk, tried to attack a woman outside a pub we went to with his PARENTS there. Then long story short, he assaulted me.

These pics were sent to me after I came home, and refused to speak to him again. One day he called me 62 times!!!! And we were never more than buddies. Can you imagine dating this guy?

I hope he gets help too...but I doubt he will, as he doesn’t think he even has a problem.

Ah, ok, thanks for clarifying the matter further! It is definitely manipulative and even emotionally abusive if someone harms themself just because they were romantically rejected. It sucks, that's for sure, but it is everyone's personal responsibility to try and find more constructive coping mechanisms.

And no, I definitely would not date a person like him

Re: Royal Navy Submariner Self Harm

I'm a self harmer have been for 26 years and never once have I taken pictures of my injuries during or afterwards it's a very private thing I struggle with and would definitely never put it on the internet for attention good bad or otherwise. That's just my opinion on the matter everyone has their own ways of coping with self harm
