He PROBABLY doesn't need to drown them. He might need "clean" maggots, yes. But, he doesn't need to get rid of them.
Maggots only eat dead/decaying/diseased flesh.
They are not gross.... Doctors use them alot to aid in wound flesh repair.... look it up.
