Revenging Teenager Shoots Himself in the Head with Less-lethal Gun

Colombia. Yesterday morning around 8:00 AM a student identified in local reports as J.S. entered the Institución Educativa planning a revenge on staff so he took a less-lethal weapon with him.

According to investigations by local authorities and school coexistence officials, the prior week, school administrators had placed him on a home-based learning track due to a history of conflictive behavior.

Yesterday he returned to the school armed with a less-lethal/compression weapon intending to target the teachers and directors involved in that decision.

After attempting to force his way into the principal's office, he was pursued and cornered by fellow students trying to subdue him, at which point he shot himself in the head.

While two individuals were initially detained after security cameras caught them removing the gun from the scene, authorities reported that the weapon itself mysteriously vanished and was not in their possession at the time of their arrest.

The student is brain death now as a result of the self-inflicted wound to his head. He is currently being kept alive on life support.

If he wasn’t brain dead before he did this, he should have been.

Re: Revenging Teenager Shoots Himself in the Head with Less-lethal Gun

Minor who opened fire at a school in Medellín could return home without legal repercussions.

According to the Penal Code, carrying or firing so-called traumatic or compression weapons is not yet classified as a crime.

"If the weapon used has those characteristics, there is no criminal liability for the crime of trafficking and carrying weapons, because it does not meet the requirements for this type of crime.

In Colombia, we are only just beginning the process of legalizing these weapons," explained lawyer and university professor Andrés Tobón.

Another punishable offense that could be analyzed is attempted homicide, but it would be up to the Prosecutor's Office to prove that his intention was to assault, injure or kill, apparently, some teachers.

However, based on the evidence authorities have so far, the young man is never seen directly shooting at anyone. Only in one of the videos is he seen trying to force open the door to the principal's office by kicking it.

"If he only entered shooting, we can deduce that there is no punishable conduct," the lawyer stated.

Regarding the two men who were arrested after entering the educational institution, apparently to steal the weapon, he stated that they had not committed any crime. This is because the weapon, according to authorities, was not a firearm.

The minor could only face disciplinary action from the educational institution, but not from the justice system.

If it is proven that the young man suffered from psychological disorders, as the authorities indicated after the incident, the State should promote his rehabilitation and could be exempt from sanctions.

Regarding the student's health status, the only information available comes from the Security Secretariat, which indicated that he is stable and under the supervision of the Child and Adolescent Police.

The kids should be awarded!
Imagine saving your favourite teacher and then she invites you over to her place for a 1v1 ‘dinner’ as a reward
