The actual detachment part was completely painless for me. (and I am a huge wuss when it comes to being in pain). The hurting only started after the surgery. 5 days after the surgery most of the pain was gone, and I am happy to say that as of today I have no pain at all. I can blink in sync again, fully close my eye, and a good portion of my vision has returned, although it is very nearsighted.

what type of surgery did they do to reattach your retina? they put a gas bubble in mine and for several days or a week or so i saw what looked like grapes in my eye... which was the gas bubble. it slowly dissolved.

with all the surgery all in one eye, it is actually my better eye. i am nearly blind in my right eye. could get cataract surgery in it but then both eyes would see far and i would need reading glasses. as it stands, left eye for looking in the distance, right eye for looking close. (due to being born cross eyed i can't use both eyes at once and therefore lack depth perception.)

They gave me a scleral buckle, which is what I can only describe as a rubberband going around my eye. I also have that annoying gas bubble.

Info on the bubble: You can't see the gas bubble if you look at my eye from an outsider view, but I can see it there floating in my eye. It looks like a carpenter's level.
