That could be, plus a lot of users dip around-the-clock. My brother knew a fellow med student who even slept with a dip in his lip. I think it's probably a combination of: 1) susceptibility to cancer; and 2) how much and how often do you dip. Either way, it's nasty stuff and I don't recommend anybody use it any longer than absolutely necessary.

If you're spending a lot of time working or studying or similar, it's real easy to get used to dipping all the time. And when you get to that point, kicking it is a bitch. Way tougher than quitting smoking, at least in my estimation. In college, I just quit cold-turkey. But the last time I kicked, I had to use nicotine gum for a couple weeks to keep me from being an intolerable grumpy bastard.

Nasty shit, but it does work well at keeping your ass awake without having to resort to uppers.

I've only known 1 person who chews. I'll never understand why anyone smokes and/or chews.

I'm from Pennsylvania.. When I was a kid not only did I have the friend or three that smoked (Who were kids at the time) but there was a whole slew of kids 8-15 yrs old that used all sorts of smokeless tobacco...
the teens weren't any better.. I used it a few occasions. and before I quit smoking like 3-4 years ago, I was using Snus in place of cigarettes on occasion.
Maybe not in Canada.. but in the U.S. a lot of people use this crap..
The biggest fear growing up at places where people that chewed were hangin out at..
The dreaded dip spit can... Someone who chews got 2 cans of beer in front of them... one is for drinking (Contains beer) other is chew spit.. beer can gets mixed up on a table at a party with said people.. go to get your beer and end up chugging someone's chew spit...fucking gross..lol

lol, i used to smoke a shit ton and quit by using dip then tried a cigar cause i could never get hooked on them then tried to quit the chew and ended up on cigs, cigars and dip so i started drinking alot because i felt like such a fucking duchebag. lol, dont dip people and yes i did eventually quit it all, been at least 10 years.
