Thats a wick that they insert so the wound does not close and accumulate puss! Its a constant drainage option! Tapeworm does not come out of that end!!

As others have mentioned, it's definitely ribbon gauze. My hubby stepped on a Catfish and the spine broke off in his foot. After surgery, I had to pack ribbon gauze into the hole left behind for a month. I could stuff approximately 9-12 inches of gauze into his wound. When I would change it, I pulled it out just like this vid.
