Removal of a Mandibulectomy Mass
This 47 year old female had a mandibulectomy mass growing for 7 years. It was hard, so I suspected it was fibrous dysplasia. Wilson attempted intubation but was unable to place the tube. This was ok since we were ready to do a tracheotomy. After surgery started, we peeled down the lower lip then removed the central portion of the tumor in pieces. Then we divided the mandible when we got to normal tissues- about at the junction of the body and ramus on each side. It was a difficult surgery.”
