Re: The "Rat People" of Pakistan
That's sad. It's like back when in the US circuses and fairs would have sideshow 'freaks'. Those people were abused and used for money by the people who would sometimes buy them from their parents. I also hope the thing about clamping babies heads isn't true. |

Re: The "Rat People" of Pakistan
Are you the person who also loves the movies, "Freaks?" Realistically, there wasn't alot of things some people with deformities and severe mental issues could have done back in the days of those fairs and sideshows. That's all they really knew. Sad, but, true There used to be a cashier at a Walgreen's with that Grady Stiles' condition, a lobster claw like hand. I didn't even notice it at first. She sometimes had problems with those stupid thin bags, but, some of use with all ten fingers cannot separate them, lol! I always think I'm on, "Boiling Point," or something with those stupid bags! A JC Penney had a dwarf cashier who stood on a stool around here, too. |

Re: The "Rat People" of Pakistan
I'm in the US. I know they do in West Virginia and other places I've seen on, "Jerry Springer." In India, there are pre-arranged marriages, even today. Young girls are bathed in acid and killed by their parents, if they don't want to marry the chosen male. They do so in Pakistan, according to wikipedia: Arranged Marriages Arranged marriages have been an integral part of Pakistani society for years and are still prevalent. Marriages are often arranged within the family or within the same community or ethnicity. Social and educational status are very important in arranged matrimonial alliances. However nowadays, love marriages are slowly becoming more common and acceptable in Pakistan. Arranged matches are made after taking into account factors such as the wealth and social standing of their families. A marriage can also be made within the extended family such as between cousins. There are two types of arranged marriages in Pakistan. Under semi-arranged marriages, the couple makes the final decision. In a completely arranged marriage, with no compromises made by the potential bride and groom, the parents’ decision is final. Dating is frowned upon in Pakistani society and it’s still not acceptable. However, a new generation of Pakistani adolescents have taken on Western practices of courtship. Dating has become a new phenomenon but it happens, “behind the scenes,” where it’s hushed in order to protect the family honor. The most liberal and educated of Pakistan undergo semi-arranged marriages in the urban parts of the country, and fully arranged marriages are seen mostly in rural areas which hold the least educated people. Here is the link, if anyone wants to read it in its entirety: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrange...es_in_Pakistan |

Re: The "Rat People" of Pakistan
The reason inbreeding is bad, is because it doubles the genes, instead of diluting them. Everyone has genes for diseases and such. If you breed with a close relative, you are doubling those genes and raising the odds of having a kid with a "Genetic condition". Inbreeding causes genetic conditions. Although, not every inbred person comes out with problems and not everyone with a genetic condition is inbred. |
