Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
Yeah fuck Effexor and Cymbalta. I went from one to the other because I was suicidal with the side effects. I've never had a more miserable few years in my life with depression/anxiety than I did when I was on them. I'm on a combo on Fluoxetine and Reboxetine now and they're amaaaaaazing.

Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
I think it was Effexor I was put on a few years ago. Dr. said to try it as it was meant to be good for hot flashes! Omg, the effect it had on me was awful. I was so dizzy all of the time. I kept waking up during the night not knowing where I was. I felt like I was in a dream state at work and everything around me wasn't real. No other Dr. prescribed drug has ever had an effect on me like that. Awful stuff. Stopped taking it and hey presto, back to the normal psycho that I am!! |

Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
Venlafaxine is generic Effexor. We are all different. What works for one of us will kill the next person. I cannot take ibuprofen because it makes me feel disoriented. A lot of people are happy with it. When I first started taking birth control pills, my gyno told me he wasn't going to tell my any possible side effects, but, to call him if I felt anything different or not, "normal," for me. I had to go through 3 to get it right. I'd cry all the time with one and felt out of it with another. Your body does tell you if something is wrong. LISTEN to it, even if you think it is silly |

Completely agree with you diamondsmiles. The one thing I have learned is to listen to what my body is telling me. If you know your body you can get things sorted out. I knew something was wrong years ago and went for a smear test. I had pre cancerous cells and had to have laser treatment to remove them. I followed my gut and caught the issue early. |

Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
I'm aware of not just letting off of the antidepressants for all the above.. "Discontinuation syndrome" Basically this is what the doctors call it when you abruptly stop taking certain antidepressants and get sick/crash. They say it is similar to addiction, but it is not truly addiction. My first realization of this was a little over five years ago. when I was being tapered off of alcohol with klonopin and valium in jail. and was told the effects of abruptly stopping alcohol or benzodiazepines.. And when I went to rehab from jail, we went to the medical office one week, was a man there..he was addicted to Xanax.. he missed his taper dose and was seizing up in front of us as he was talking to us.. His head was like stuck in his shoulders.. couldn't move his neck or arms.. terrible stuff. It is funny you mention Celexa... as I was on that drug from the time I was in jail until I was about 3 and a half years sober (like 2 years ago)... They had tried other stuff with me with the celexa early on but would give me bad reactions.. (Welbutrin, abilify aka abilifry..lol few others.) 2 years ago in middle of summer..finally just stopped working.. pretty much snapped..told everyone to go get bent and ran off .. Family doc put me on Effexor, kind of worked for a while..then got sent to a psych.. kept me on Effexor, added Seroquel, lithium and klonopin I never take that is for panic attacks.. Seroquel was no good..sleep for 24+ hours off of 250 mg. tossed me on Prozac instead. kept me on Effexor, lithium, and the klonopin for panic attacks. (Only took the klonopin 3 times..was used to taper me off of booze..so kinda like..hmmmn.... yeh not good. |

Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
I've been on Paxil and BuSpar for about 17 years now, with Klonopin on hand in case I have a severe panic attack, and I honestly would not be here today if I wasn't on that medication. My uncle's the one who started me on them, and I know he would never put a member of his family on a drug that would have any serious affects on them so long as they took it as directed. So far so good for me.

Abilify. Thank you. I had Welbutrin years ago, too. Like I said, we are all different and you have to be monitored with everything and listen to your body. |
