Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
I had looked into this about a year or two ago.. I seen that a few medications I was on and have been on mentioned Steven-Johnson's syndrome as a possible side effect.. Was like wtf is this? looked it up, and found out.. Great.... I can get cooked from my meds microwave oven style.. Few days later I was browsing around on here and came across a post or two on here related to it.. Scary shit.. Many medications have this as a side effect.. For me it was Effexor.. By the way.. if your doctor/psychiatrist etc. mention Effexor? Avoid it like it is medicine resistant gonorrhea... Miss a dose two days straight and you'll wish you were going through opiate withdrawals They like to call it "Discontinuation Syndrome".. I like to call it a form of forced compliance and reliance to continue consuming a companies drugs. (almost 2 yrs and I'm still on it..doc won't let me off it.. weight gain, dizziness, other crap I can't even begin to explain.. feels like it is electrocuting/zapping my brain at times, then makes me dizzy.) Some antidepressant/anti-anxiety drug.. |

Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
one of the medications i am on lists that as a possible side effect. my dr said, during the first year of taking it, if i have a rash of any kind, i need to call him. even if i know what caused the rash. you can imagine how spooked i was that first year every time i got hives from something...sometimes google is not your friend.

Great- I've been on it for 8 years! Has helped me tremendously, I gotta say- no side effects that I'm aware of, but have heard of withdrawal horrors for some people... |

Re: Rare Syndrome Caused Woman to Burn From the Inside Out
Hey, minty! I'm sorry to hear that You are supposed to be weaned off of anti-depressants. A friend told me his doctor told him to stop, too, but, you crash. You go through withdrawal. I was on Effexor for awhile. I am on Cymbalta now, 120 mg. a day, the max permitted by law. Before that, Celexa. When that kicked in, I felt like singing, "C'mon, Get Happy!" I forget the name of the other one, which begins with an, "A," but, it didn't help pain or anything else. I hope you are feeling better now :) You should look up all of your medications, if you cannot read those teeny tiny papers that come with most meds. I know some pharmacies remove them, but, I look everything up, just to be sure. Some meds should not be taken with grapefruit juice either. I posted a thread about that, but, just saw it for the first time on my mother's Vytorin, which is for high blood pressure. If you need to chat, please PM me. My mother has been taking Effexor for a while, but, she won't complain and since here stroke in 2004, I am not sure whether she doesn't hear things or is afraid to complain. She is 78 and only gets the tests she feels like and won't see a female doctor. I ran out of Xanax on a weekend and the pharmacist didn't know me. After not sleeping for 2 or 3 nights, seeing bright lights when my eyes were closed and my heart pounding, I went to the ER for a prescription for a few days. You may have been able to take a low dosage of that while being weaned off of the Effexor. |

You should never stop taking anti-depressants and your doctor should monitor you! You need to be weaned off of them or you crash! My mother has been taking Effexor for years as well. I'm past that one now :) When you feel like it's not working, talk with your doctor or therapist. |
