Re: Random Medical and Weird I Find ALWAYS UPDATED * child warning
Fabry disease is an uncommon, X-linked lysosomal storage disorder, caused by partial or complete deficiency of the enzyme a-galactosidase A. The defect leads to accumulation of uncleaved globotriaosylceramide on the vascular endothelium and visceral tissues, being the skin, heart, kidneys and central nervous system the most affected organs. We performed review of the literature related to the disease and emphasized that early recognition of angiokeratomas and hypohidrosis are key diagnostic signs of this serious disease. We also addressed the need of multidisciplinary assessment of these patients. Keywords: Alpha-galactosidase; Angiokeratoma; Fabry disease |

Well, that didn't go well with my Frosty! (Like a thick milkshake, if you don't have Wendy's there. I freeze mine anyway.) |

Re: Random Medical and Weird I Find ALWAYS UPDATED * child warning
What some people see as, "flaws," are what can make them unique. I get teary eyed when I see someone who was paralyzed walk, or the toddlers who hear and see for the first time. They had a bride on the news a few days ago walk down the aisle and her husband to be didn't know she was going to do it. I lost it! He carried her back to her chair after they were married. I cry when military personnel are reunited with their children or mothers. Priceless moments! |
