The problem is radiation from armor piercing rounds and bunker buster type armaments.Long exposure produces birth defects and health issues for anyone in close proximity. I'm a former Marine from the Viet-Nam era and at that time we were experimenting w/ armor compromising rounds. I was also one of the first handlers of the "Smart bomb" technology which is actually an infrared guidance device that has to be placed in the target area.

Depleted uranium from armor piercing rounds. It's a problem that our forces have to be mindful of as well. Over a period of time the exposure will affect chromosomes and will affect children. Not all military are exposed to this but many in artillery and air support are. Phantom illnesses are not out of the question as well..
