Not too bad...I could deal with it... Maybe even do it myself if I know my hand wont fall apart ... Just need a pair of Dikes and you're good to go. Little twist,wiggle and out ya go... nice n easy now.  |

Stupid question, how are the pins put in? i mean are they driven in with a hammer or with a drill do they actually go thru the bones and what if it's a complex fracture when there are only tiny pieces of broken bone?

I had two 1mm diameter cross-pins placed into my left index finger when the joint was fused due to arthritic degeneration. The pins were simply pulled out at the doctor's office 6 weeks after surgery. Felt like nothing at all, just a jolt like a zap from static electricity, and that's it.

those are called k-wires. they are "drilled" in with a mini/baby stryker driver(or something similar). Yes, they do go through bones. Depends on how complex,from the Docs i work with they do what they can to bring everything back in place. |
, seeing someone else dealing with it cures ALL my curiosity.
