Pilonidal Sinus: Pilonidal Cyst Surgery Recovery Pictures After Closure
Pilonidal sinus, also commonly called a pilonidal cyst, is a small hole or tunnel in the natal cleft at the top of the buttocks. It is thought to develop when a hair follicle becomes blocked or broken hair embeds in the skin, creating a chronic tract. It occurs in about 26 people per 100,000. An abscess may be opened and drained. A persistent sinus may be excised and left open to heal with regular dressings or stitched closed. Closed wounds generally heal faster, while open healing has a lower recurrence rate. Other procedures include endoscopic ablation and flap closure. Off-midline closure has a lower recurrence rate than midline closure. |

I had this surgery in 2007. Thought healing was going well until a week after surgery when I woke up and saw blood everywhere in my bed. I had popped every single stitch in my sleep. Hope you continue to get better!
