Piece of Shell Casing Went Through My Finger.
I was shooting a few years ago and felt a stinging in my trigger finger. I was bump firing a 9mm mac-11 clone, and it was behaving oddly (not a great quality firearm) I had an "out of battery" detonation and a piece of the casing went out through the hole in the lower receiver where the trigger guard meets the receiver. The piece of brass went through my finger and I had two bloody spots where the holes were. The pics are afterwards, when I had cut open the wound to clean it out. The entrance place was at the top of the cut and it left at the bottom. the holes were joined by a cut with a razor to get access to the wound channel. Fortunately, I had no tendon or nerve damage and upon healing the only thing remaining was a scar. Never found the piece of brass. It must have gone through my finger at a very fast pace. |

Re: Piece of Shell Casing Went Through My Finger.
Lotta nines and 40's have unsupported cartridge areas at the chamber, especially glocks Check and see if your chamber doesn't fully support the rear of the cartridge, many feed ramps are milled in such a way that there's not enough meat there. Not saying you didn't have a out of battery slam fire, because I have with a sticky sks firing pin ( has no spring to return to neutral) I've seen them blow out before, but never got cut Good post |

Re: Piece of Shell Casing Went Through My Finger.
Personally? this seems more like one of those things that would scare the shit out of me more so than hurt.. Like... FUCK! gun blew up/blew my finger off oshi-!!! Then, look and see flesh wound/s... HUGE sigh of relief.. Working in a restaurant, Hand an incident where I was sharpening a deli slicer blade. (large model slicer) The built in sharpener slipped while I was holding it to the blade.. Didn't get cut or anything.. but my wrist/arm flew right past the spinning blade. (I was wearing cutting gloves/mail gloves, but that wouldn't have saved me from lobbing my hand/arm off.. Was like...phew... check my drawers.. go do something else. |
