Placentas are amazing! In the first trimester a woman's body basically grows this entirely new organ whose sole purpose is to pass your nutrients onto the unborn child, then after baby is born, your body discards it, only to grow another one the next time you have baby. It's pretty remarkable.

i have never looked at it that way. My mum who is from another country says the placenta is nearly worshipped and something done with it. i cant remember what. .must ask her one day

Some cultures eat them, some bury them in a special family plot. Here in the US they're mostly just thrown out. When I gave birth to my son I asked just to see if because it's kinda cool. Silly fiance took pictures.
