Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty: Male-to-Female Sex Change Operation
Penile inversion vaginoplasty is a gender-affirming operation that creates a vulva and vaginal canal using genital tissue. During the procedure, both testes are removed, penile skin is inverted to line the canal, and a scrotal skin graft may provide additional lining. Part of the glans is used to form a clitoris. The canal is dissected between the rectum and the prostate and bladder, then packed after surgery. A catheter remains until the packing is removed. Ongoing dilation is required to reduce the risk of narrowing.
