Partially Severed Finger, Due to Bicycle Disc Brake
May 15 2009, just got my 2002 cannondale f1000 woody, and was taking it down the meanest wood path. I was riding back up and my read axle was set off by a bald cypress 'knee' root, upon examination at the top of the hill i was showing my buddy how my disc was rubbing the brake housing... for the SPLIT SECOND my finger was in between the spoke of the disc (roughly 1/2-1mm, razor sharp on the 2 edges and flat in the middle) and the brake housing, my friend grabbed my wheel and forcibly pushed. I was able to rip my finger out in time it did not sever completely. I was at one point a music major, classically trained, and still play, needless to say my brain was in go to the doctor mode, no pain just an immediate walk to a main road where my friend called my mom to take me to the hospital. his girlfriend watched the bikes. so Emergency room time. not my first time to go in there shirtless bloody and laughing, knife to head may 2007 no pics the carpenters left soon and i went in, and got SUPERGLUED up, minor damage in the end, only the end of my nailed in one spot is dead, so 10 years of bass and classical guitar was not lost... last pic, the culprit is the mountain bike in the back, i don't have any close up pics on this computer, its got a Lefty fork |
