The mouth sewing isnt just a cleansing ritual, some people sew their eyes and lips shut for fasting rituals, they also do this as a passage or rites and many other things. I remember reading about this in ancient times, it was sometimes used as a torture/punishment method. I have heard of MANY many reasons.. And suspension pain varies between people. Mostly there is a very deep dull pain once you are actually hanging, this doesnt last very long but some people experience extreme shaking and i have seen a couple of people pass out from it. One thing i learned is that the pain also depends on how much the person weighs. However, once the endorphins kick in the pain usually subsides and its a very euphoric experience. The hooks them selves are like a large gauge piercing or stretching your piercings. It does hurt...like hell actually...but once you are hanging the pain changes...again this depends on a lot of things, where the hooks are and how many there are on your body usually makes a big difference as well. |

Suspension has never really hurt much to me, but as you point out, were all different. The hooks used for suspension is actually no where near as sharp as a piercing needle. They are usually 6 gauge, and quite dull. How cool to have another suspension person on here! It's so fun to discuss these things  |

It is! i always get these stupid comments from people when i talk about it. Most of the people i have talked to about say its stupid...I love it though, its a wonderful experience and I believe everyone should go through something like this. Im REALLY into body mods...my good friend owns a tattoo parlor where i live so i am lucky to get to experience everything

I live for bodymods! I'm a piercer and a tattoo apprentice!! I've been suspending since my 18th birthday(I'm almost 21 now!) I have tried so many weird piercings and all sorts of suspensions. My next project is to start getting tattoes. It's a costly hobby, but I love it! |

Ive had two suspensions...Lotus and Jesus (I dont know if jesus is the correct term but i have heard about 3 different terms for it...but this one seems the most fitting) Right now i have my ears stretched to 00g and my tongue at a 4g I have 2 tattoos and i am getting another at the end of this month...The good thing about being a Tattoo apprentice (hopefully who your training under allows you to get free tattoos or extremely reduced...) Because i know the parlor owner i got a Large Master chief on my leg and a Nibbler (from the show Futurama) on my arm...i am getting a Ninja Turtle tattoo next, only its really different from what i have seen, he actually drew this for me so... |

Hmm.. Never heard of the Jesus, but the lotus is beautifull! Might it be the crusifix suspension you're calling Jesus? Cause that one I've done!=) Currently I have stretched ears, only 0g at the biggest, cause i think it's more feminine and cute=p I also have three piercings in each nipple, tongue, diagonal labrets, nostril and Christina. I have had loads more, but most were very experimental surfaces, so they mostly grew out. This summer I'm going to the US to get my sub clavicals!! I can't fucking wait. No one wants to do them up here. But they're worth t, they're absolutley lovely! But I'm slowing down the piercings in general, seeing is I have one half-sleeve, one full sleeve and a backpiece all planned out.. I do get some of, but since my pieces are so big, I have to bay quite alot anyways. |

Yeah its the Crucifix, I worked with the group iHung out of Columbus, OH....The Lotus was the most painful, because of the hooks in every limb, they were sore for quite some time, but the experience itself was very relaxing, it was the most incredible experience i have ever been through... I don't have many piercings, like i had mentioned, but i am thinking about something new but im not sure what. My good friend (who is like my brother) i have known him since i was in 4th grade...He is a professional piercer at the same parlor as the one my other friend owns...sorry if that was confusing... Anyways he'll do any of my piercings for free i just gotta figure out what...But i am addicted to tattoos...im telling you, once you get one you will NEVER stop...since both of us are so in to body mods...believe me , one is NEVER enough...lol |
