Orchiectomy: Castration Procedure Shown in Human Castration Pictures
Orchiectomy is the surgical removal of one or both testicles. It may be performed for oncological, endocrine, infectious, traumatic or gender-affirming reasons, including advanced prostate cancer, severe unresolved infection, trauma and gender dysphoria. For prostate cancer, it is a surgical alternative to medical androgen deprivation therapy. Removing both testicles ends most testosterone production. A bilateral subcapsular orchiectomy preserves the feel of palpable testicles, with reported satisfaction similar to removal of the entire testicular tissue. |

He probably did it for religious reasons. Castrating himself will keep him from feeling sexual desire. I guess some die hard priests do it.
