Oral Lesions
A 52-year-old man was referred for the diagnosis of multiple exophytic oral lesions. The patient reported being HIV positive for 12 years. These lesions appeared several years ago, when the level of CD4 cells was already very low. This prompted him to start taking antiretroviral therapy. After 4 months of taking the drugs, the state of the immune system has greatly improved. But along with this, the lesions in the oral cavity became more extensive, became aesthetically and functionally uncomfortable. Examination revealed extensive nodular lesions throughout the oral mucosa extending into the oropharynx. The lesions were asymptomatic. |
