Open Leg Fracture Shows Much of the Bone
There was no information about how this was caused, but as you can see, this guy has an open leg fracture that looks pretty darn painful.

In extreme bloody messes like these, the cotton helps soak up the blood, and it rarely gets "stuck" inside the wound. It's usually too saturated to stick anywhere. When the wound starts clotting, that's when they take off the cotton, or else the cotton WILL catch inside the wound. Although I don't think the cotton would do much harm :/
