More than likely iodoform infused gauze. Allows the wound to heal from the inside out preventing it from becoming an abscess again. I don't think she packed it properly/enough/far enough in the space. Had to pack my elbow with the stuff after I had a post-op infection in 2013. Changed my own gauze packing/dressings daily.... MYSELF.... for about 2-3 weeks...  |

That was a doctor (not a nurse) in ER. She did an incision & drainage on the abcess and packed it with gauze. She did a very good job & you can hear her and the patient talking about continuing antibiotic.
