This is seen often in the ICU. Being on the hip, it's probably from a bedsore that became infected with staph, necrotizing faccitis or fourniers gangrene can also occur easily. Like any other full thickness wound. Wound care is paramount, often combined with a wound vac (or manuca honey/maggot therapy depending on where you are in the world) to assist with granulation. Once the granulation tissue begins to fill in the hole, it mostly heals uneventfully. |
